On August 20, 2010, Grenada’s largest supermarket will mark its 10th year in operation. Real Value IGA opened its doors in 2000 with approximately 65 employees and to date can boast of a three-fold increase. In 2003, Real Value IGA became a member of the IGA (Independent Grocers Alliance) after being highly recommended. This membership solidified the Company’s vision to provide the highest standard available in the industry while offering better products and services to its customers. IGA is not just a brand but a commitment to quality service to the community. For two consecutive years (2008 & 2009), Real Value IGA copped the award for the Top Scorer/Most completed IGA online courses with IGA Coca Cola Institute and received the IGA Retailer of the Year Award in 2009 for being the top store in the Caribbean and South America.
Since its inception, Real Value IGA has undertaken many community initiatives because they understand the importance of giving back to the communities that have supported them throughout the years. With the adoption of two homes (Belair Home for Children & Adolescents and the Queen Elizabeth Home), and close ties to others including Dorothy Hopkin Home, Grand Anse Gardens Home for the Aged, and Friar Hilarion Cheshire Home for the Aged in St. Patrick, Real Value IGA has been continuously making contributions to these institutions in both Cash and Kind. Real Value IGA’s Community Outreach Program underscores its unwavering commitment to play its part in national development as they leap into the future.
A number of activities are planned for the Anniversary Celebrations and include:
20th August - Opening Day – 10 Long-standing employees will be recognized. Also every day for 10 days beginning on Opening Day, one lucky customer will get their groceries free.
21st August – Visits to Queen Elizabeth Home, Grand Anse Garden Home, and Hillaire Home for the Aged.
24th August – Customer Appreciation Day including giveaways and product sampling.
27th August – Rhum Runner Cruise – proceeds in aid of refurbishing the Morne Rouge Playing Field.
